Best Skunk Repellents That Work : Homemade Natural Skunks Repellent

Skunk are omnivorous animals, that comes in search of food to yard. They may invade in our home and create foul odour. This animal can cause diseases like rabies, so we have to get rid of them. There are many effective skunk repellents available in market. We can use efficient methods to repel this animal with its smelling sense, without killing them. There are many methods available to create a repellent by ourselves.

Mothball repellent 

If we find skunk den, we can place a mothball inside a glass jar with a hole in its lid and we can place that in its den. Smelling the mothball, skunk leave the den.

Ammonia rag 

When ammonia is soaked in rags/cotton balls placed in skunk den, they feel the ammonia smell comes from the other animals urination and some animal have occupied the den.

Recipe 1: Natural skunk repellent based on Cayenne pepper & onion

We need some of the below mentioned items from our kitchen,

  • 1-tsp Cayenne pepper
  • 1 Yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 Jalapeño pepper, chopped
  • Water

Boil water with cayenne pepper, yellow onion and jalapeño pepper for about 20 minutes and remove it from heat. Then allow the pot to cool.

Fill the strained mixture in a sprayer and spray it around the house frequently.

Recipe 2:  Jalapeno pepper & Onion based

  • 1 yellow onion
  • 4 or 5 jalapeno pepper
  • Water – 1 gallon

Cut the onion into half and peppers into small pieces. Make the pieces boil in water for 20 minutes. Remove the mixture from heat and make it cool for few minutes. Strain the mixture, fill the solution in a sprayer and spray it in places where we have to protect from skunk. We can repeat the spray every week until we feel we have skunk free zone.

Recipe 3: Castor oil Spray

  • 1 tbsp castor oil
  • 1 tbsp dish washing detergent
  • 16 tbsp of water

Mix the castor oil, dish washing detergent and water in 1:1:16 ratio and use it in a sprayer to spray it near the skunk den and place where they invade.

Recipe 4: Pungent capsaicin spray

  • Onion
  • Jalapeno pepper
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Water

Pungent capsaicin spray can be made by boiling onion, jalapeno pepper approximately 1 tbsp, cayenne pepper in 2 quarts of water, it is then cooled, strained and used in sprayer to spray as skunk repellent.

Recipe 5:-

  • Hot sauce
  • Black pepper
  • Pepper flakes

Mix hot sauce, black pepper and pepper flakes together and use it places where skunks frequent.
